This week I’m excited to share with you many exciting startups! But first…
New opportunities for startups —
Inclusive Energy Innovation Prize: National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have created a new, cross-cutting funding opportunity to support community partnerships. Make sure you're on the list for updates.
NREL’s Executive Energy Leadership Academy: Apply by January 14th to learn about advanced energy technologies to guide your organizations in energy-related decisions and planning.
Accelerate Incubator Program: Minority-owned small clean energy businesses can apply by January 31st for an education stipend, free access to ACORE events, thought leadership and industry speaking engagement opportunities, and more.
One newsletter to get bite-sized action plans to fight climate change —
Get Soapbox Project's bite-sized changeletters, which have covered topics from fast fashion to land rights -- each issue is fun, actionable, and helps you make a difference in 3 minutes each week.
An event I’m hosting —
The Founder and CEO of Sylvatex, a climate tech company utilizing sustainable chemistry and materials science to accelerate the shift to electrification of transportation, will be giving a short talk about the their technology on January 19th. Sign up for the Lunch & Learn!

Dynamhex deploys Decarbonization-as-a-Service (DaaS) and accelerates progress to net zero. Dynamhex delivers the essential climate intelligence (on an application and APIs) that is critical for collaborative decision making for emission reductions.
Black Swift Technologies is the best-in-class Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) provider of high performance, UAS-based sensor platforms. It's team are world-class experts in fixed wing UAS, part-per-billion laser spectrometer methane detection, sensor-based navigation, autonomous navigation, Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS) operations, designing systems for high winds and adverse weather conditions.
With methane being recognized as the major contributor to greenhouse gasses (after carbon dioxide), a multi-billion dollar market has developed to identify and mitigate methane leakage from Oil and Gas productions.
Making use of BST's core competencies and well-recognized expertise, we are developing an autonomous methane detection platform that can survey large areas and/or long distances autonomously. Named the S2 MLD UAS, it can detect methane leak locations at a cost of 1/5 of and with sensitives 10X better than competing technologies. This valuable data allows for Oil and Gas providers to identify, locate and repair methane leaks, as well as verify that pipelines and decommissioned production areas are within regulatory requirements.
SEPPURE has created a sustainable chemical-resistant nano-filtration technology to replace the energy-intensive chemical separation processes, e.g. distillation, in multiple industries including vegetable oil, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and oil industries. The innovation of separating chemical mixtures without heat (using chemical-resistant membranes) results in 90% less energy consumption and GHG emissions and 30-50% lower operating costs.

Support Innovate Climate
If you enjoy or get value from Innovate Climate, please consider supporting my efforts via Patreon. I spend more time researching, outreaching to, and talking to startups (and investors) than working my full time job. My mission is to help startups create climate impact by helping them connect with the right resources. This passion project has started to take over my life more and more (in a good way), and I’d like to continue doing this, perhaps even full-time.
Do you know a great climatetech startup? Forward this newsletter to them so they can fill out our founder survey and be featured in future newsletters.
